Rainbows is a section of Girlguiding for girls aged five to seven (four to seven in Northern Ireland). 2nd Cockermouth Rainbows meets every Thursday at the Friends Meeting House at the top of Kirkgate (Cockermouth) between 5pm and 6pm.  It is run by a lovely team of volunteers: Vicky, Sian, Rachel and Kate  We are ably assisted by the wonderful Annie and Rebecca, our resident Brownies.  

 

Girls can do ANYTHING!

 

Rainbows is all about developing self-confidence, building friendships, learning new things and having fun. The girls follow a programme called the Rainbow Jigsaw, through which they can take part in lots of different activities with girls their own age.

 

We do a new badge every term. Badges have included:-

"I'm a Rainbow, Guide me out of Here!" which was loosely based on 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here'! We had forest adventures, did bush tucker trials and made dens in the deepest darkest woods! 

 

"Strictly Sparkly" which looked at all sorts of traditional and modern dances and music and was based on the TV favourite, Strictly Come Dancing.

 

"Get Healthy" which was all about how to stay fit and healthy and covered activities like Rainbow Olympics, sporting heroes, Moky fit and healthy eating.

 

"The Rainbow Roundabout" which looked at the four parts of the Rainbow Jigsaw "Look Learn Laugh Love".

 

"Passport to Europe" which takes the girls on an imaginative tour of Europe using their Rainbow passports!
